ArcSoft Collaborates with Phoenix Technologies to Deliver Worlds First Instant-On Blu-ray Playback Software

ArcSoft TotalMedia Theatre Is Now Compatible with Phoenix HyperSpace

— 1/10/2009 — Las Vegas, NV —

ArcSoft, Inc., the world-leading multimedia software provider, announced today its collaboration with Phoenix Technologies (Nasdaq: PTEC) to offer world’s first Blu-ray playback software which runs on Phoenix HyperSpace platform, providing users instant-on access to watch Blu-ray movies on PC.

Running on HyperSpace-enabled PCs, ArcSoft TotalMedia® Theatre can boot up with the press of a single key, allowing users to begin watching their Blu-ray movies without having to wait for Windows to start first. The HyperSpace environment gives users more than 25% battery savings when watching DVDs in HyperSpace while the primary Windows environment is in sleep mode.

“More and more users are utilizing their personal computers and laptops as the entertainment center, including watching the next generation discs – Blu-ray,” said George Tang, ArcSoft Vice President and General Manager of Video and Home Entertainment Group. “The joint innovation with Phoenix Technologies brings end users the instant access to their Blu-ray movies, allowing more time to enjoy high-definition entertainment on a longer lasting mobile computer such as a laptop or netbook.”

Phoenix HyperSpace is a revolutionary new instant-on and always-connected computing environment that makes operating a mobile PC as efficient, fun and easy, as operating a cell phone. HyperSpace dramatically simplifies and improves the mobile experience by allowing users to instantly launch important web-based applications (before, during or after Windows® boots), automatically connect to the best available network, extend battery life, and achieve new levels of uptime and security protection. Users can toggle back and forth between the Windows and HyperSpace operating system environments.

“The HyperSpace platform provides application developers a secure and reliable environment to offer highly-efficient, instantly on and always available applications with new levels of security, reliability, battery savings and ease of use to mobile PC users,” said Surendra Arora, VP of Business Development at Phoenix Technologies. “We are glad to be working with ArcSoft and extend our computing environment to include a high-definition multimedia experience.”

Come by and experience the user experience at ArcSoft’s Meeting Suite (35770MP, South Hall 4) and also at the Phoenix booth 9014 in Central Hall at CES 2009. For more information on TotalMedia Theatre visit
