ArcSoft and Realtek team up to bring HD audio to users in an energy-efficient way

ArcSoft TotalMedia Theatre demonstrated at IDF San Francisco this September

— 9/22/2009 — Fremont, California —

ArcSoft, Inc., the world-leading multimedia software provider, announced today its Blu-ray player, TotalMedia Theatre, is demonstrated at IDF San Francisco, September 22nd through 24th.

Utilizing Realtek's DSP codec – ALC5501, TotalMedia Theatre delivers high-definition audio to users with much lower CPU usage. This is accomplished while safeguarding performance, and minimizing power consumption to satisfy energy-conscious users. This solution is demonstrated in Realtek's stand (#164) at the Energy-Efficient Audio section in IDF.

"ArcSoft has been working closely with our partners to provide users with the finest audio-video experience through TotalMedia Theatre," said George Tang, ArcSoft Vice President and General Manager of Video and Home Entertainment Group."Our collaboration with Realtek blends two leading companies from the multimedia sector, and offers a solution that combines high performance with energy efficiency."

"Following Intel's direction on 'Energy-Efficient Audio', we're glad to be working with ArcSoft on this audio DSP codec project," said Robert Wang, Realtek's Chief Marketing Officer. "With TotalMedia Theatre, we're able to provide a hardware-accelerated codec which reduces CPU utilization while safeguarding Blu-ray content decoding. We're looking forward to further achievements in audio with ArcSoft in the near future."

TotalMedia Theatre is also demonstrated by Intel in the press room in the Advanced Technology Zone, running on Intel’s next generation processor codenamed Clarkdale. First demonstration enables dual DXVA technology with Blu-ray Picture-In-Picture (PIP) feature, which not only improves the processing speed, offering smoother visual results, but also enables more energy efficient and playback greater multitasking. The other demonstration is showing support for High Bit Rate (HBR) audio supporting both pass-through and LPCM, so users can enjoy true premium sound effect when watching Blu-ray movies.

Come by and see the demonstration in person at Realtek's stand (#164) and press room in the Advanced Technology Zone at IDF SF 2009. For more information on TotalMedia Theatre, visit
